About Me

My name is Urska, and I was born in Maribor, which is the second-biggest city in Slovenia. Slovenia is a small but beautiful country squeezed between Austria, Croatia, Italy and Hungary. There is a saying that Slovenia lies on the sunny side of the Alps. It has mountains and beautiful nature, and it touches the Adriatic Sea.

At the moment I live in Gothenburg, Sweden working as a Postdoctoral researcher at Gothenburg University. Before that, I spent 8 years in Stockholm doing my Master's and PhD in Biochemistry.

I'm a mom to a 2-year-old boy, who is both the joy and frustration in my life. At the moment I don't get a lot of "me" time, but when I do, I like to go to the gym, play video games, read, or spend time outside with my two boys. I love winter and winter sports, especially ice hockey and alpine skiing. I would describe myself as a nerdy, sporty, and artsy all at the same time. I enjoy planning my days and weeks, but my life is extremely messy and needs to be constantly adjusted. For example, when my son suddenly gets sick and cannot go to daycare, or my experiments in the lab fail spectacularly.

I want this blog to be real, authentic, and relatable. I don't like the sugar-coated Instagram profiles where moms make it look like everything is perfect and struggles don't exist. We all know life is messy, unpredictable, and chaotic so everything you find here will be 100% honest ramble from a mom who is constantly learning new things about the motherhood.

Welcome!
