There’s a lot to look forward to when your baby starts walking but, I confess, one of the things I’ve most been looking forward to is being able to quote Obi Wan from Rey’s vision in The Force Awakens. So, without further ado, I can finally say: “These are your first steps”.
That’s right, Lorelei has taken those first little steps into a larger world. At first it was standing up with a helping hand or coffee table, then unassisted, testing her balance, the placement of her feet. And now, she can even take a step or two unaided before falling back down on her butt. This was in the weeks leading up to her turning ten months and we’re convinced she’ll be walking, nay running, before she’s a year old. Even the health visitor had to concur with us on that point.
Right from the get-go, Lori has developed faster than average so it’s come as no surprise to find she’s an early stander, walker, faller. Okay, so it’s not exactly walking… yet. But it will be. She has a steely determination that would put Palpatine to shame. I think the sheer frustration from not being able to move was the biggest deciding factor in her being able to crawl as soon as she did.
Of course, with walking comes a whole host of other problems. Her speedy crawling is bad enough and she’s already torn up a few of my books already before Elisabeth or I had a chance to stop her. I shudder to think what sort of mischief she’ll be able to get up to now. At least my Star Wars collection is safe and sound. Well, for now.
