Raising a Rebel ranks Star Wars

Ranking the Star Wars movies is an act of vanity, either to earn some fan-points or to be contrary. But here we are, with Raising a Rebel’s rankings. If this was a solo endeavour, I doubt I’d be fussed about sharing my own list, but being as this blog is run and written by myself and my fiancé, both of us discovering Star Wars at different times, it’s offers an interesting comparison.

So first, some background. I’m a long-time fan, to the point where I can’t remember not being enamoured by the saga. I remember falling in love with The Phantom Menace in the cinema and being hooked ever since. Being as I love each movie, ordering them proved difficult.

Elisabeth, on the other hand, hadn’t even seen a Star Wars movie until I showed her A New Hope when she was 21. But it was the excitement surrounding the release of The Force Awakens that truly converted her and made her the ardent fanatic she remains today. Because TFA was her first theatrical saga experience, it understandably ranks high. So, without further ado, here’s our rankings.

  1. The Empire Strikes Back
  2. Attack of the Clones
  3. Revenge of the Sith
  4. Return of the Jedi
  5. The Last Jedi
  6. The Phantom Menace
  7. A New Hope
  8. Rogue One
  9. The Force Awakens
  10. Solo
